LUXVIO works without a user account and without any server operated by the provider. The app contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking services and sends no crash reports to third parties. The provider receives no personal data through the app.
The app stores only on your device: the media sources and connection settings you set up, the media index, cached images, favourites, playback progress and settings. Credentials for your sources and an optional TMDb API key are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key from the Android Keystore.
The database and settings are excluded from Android cloud backup. All app data is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings.
The app only connects to devices and services that you set up yourself or select in your home network (for example SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, FTP/FTPS, NFS, HTTP or DLNA). These servers receive the technically required connection data such as your IP address, the requested paths and – if required for sign-in – your credentials. How such a server processes data is decided by its operator, usually yourself.
Unencrypted protocols can expose connection and login data to others on the same network. For connections outside your home network, use encrypted connections or a VPN where possible.
For playback the app may use a local HTTP proxy that is reachable only on your device.
The following services are switched off by default and are only used if you switch them on in settings:
In that case, search terms derived from file and folder names (for example a movie title and year) and the technically required IP address are sent to the respective service. When images are loaded, the service’s image server receives the connection data needed for the request. Your media content itself is never transmitted.
Google’s privacy policy applies to purchase, download and updates of the app: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Where processing is attributable to the provider, it serves to provide the functions you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You use the optional online information on the basis of your consent by switching it on (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and can switch it off at any time. Technically necessary access to your device is based on Section 25(2) TDDDG.
You have the rights under Art. 15 to 21 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection). Contact: info@comtail.de. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).
This policy is updated when the app changes significantly. The current version is available in the app settings and at https://comtail.github.io/luxvio-legal/.
